RETURNS, CANCELLATION & REFUNDS
Consumer Orders (Distance Sales – EU Customers)
In accordance with the European Union (Consumer Information, Cancellation and Other Rights) Regulations 2013, consumers purchasing online have the right to cancel their order within 14 days of receiving the goods, for any reason.
To exercise the right to cancel, the customer must notify us in writing within 14 days of delivery. The goods must then be returned within 14 days of the cancellation notice.
Returns must be authorised in advance. Goods returned without prior cancellation notice and return authorisation may be refused and returned to sender.
Unless the goods are faulty, incorrect, or damaged on arrival, the customer is responsible for the cost of returning the goods. Returned items must be adequately packaged to prevent damage in transit.
Condition of Returned Goods & Diminished Value
Customers may handle and inspect goods as they would in a physical retail setting. However, handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics, and functioning of the goods may result in a deduction from the refund to reflect any diminished value, as permitted under EU consumer law.
This may include (but is not limited to):
-
Items that have been opened and cannot be resold as new
-
Items returned with marks, scratches, or signs of handling
-
Missing packaging, accessories, or protective materials
-
Items not returned in a resaleable condition
-
Large appliances or fragile items that must be sold as opened or “as seen” following return
Any deduction applied will be based on the actual reduction in resale value and is not a fixed administrative or restocking fee.
Large, Fragile & High-Value Items
For large, fragile, high-value, or specification-dependent products (including appliances, lighting systems, and electrical equipment), customers are strongly advised to carefully check all dimensions, specifications, compatibility, and suitability prior to purchase.
Where such items are opened and returned, they may no longer be resold as new stock and may instead be sold as opened or “as seen,” which can significantly reduce their resale value. A reasonable deduction may be applied where the condition of the returned item affects its resaleability, in line with consumer regulations.
Business & Trade Customers (B2B Orders)
Orders placed on behalf of a business, contractor, installer, company, or trade customer are considered business-to-business (B2B) transactions. EU consumer cooling-off rights do not apply to business or trade purchases.
Returns for trade or business customers are accepted strictly at our discretion and may be subject to:
-
Restocking charges
-
Deductions based on condition and resaleability
-
Refusal of returns for opened items
-
Refusal of returns for special order or non-stock items
We reserve the right to reasonably determine customer status based on order details, company name, VAT number, or nature of the purchase.
Special Order, Non-Stock & Bespoke Items
Custom-made, cut-to-length, bespoke, or specially sourced non-stock items manufactured or ordered to a customer’s specification are exempt from cancellation rights under Regulation 13 of the European Union (Consumer Information, Cancellation and Other Rights) Regulations 2013.
This includes (but is not limited to):
-
Cut LED strips
-
Custom lighting configurations
-
Made-to-order items
-
Special order non-stock products
Such items are non-returnable unless faulty or supplied in error.
Specification & Suitability
Many of our products, including appliances, lighting systems, LED drivers, and electrical components, are specification and compatibility dependent. Customers are responsible for ensuring that products are suitable for their intended application, dimensions, and installation requirements prior to purchase.
We cannot be held responsible for incorrect purchases resulting from assumptions regarding compatibility, sizing, or third-party advice where full product specifications are provided on the product page.
Delivery Charges
Where a consumer exercises their legal right to cancel within the 14-day cooling-off period, the original standard delivery charge paid at checkout will be refunded in accordance with EU consumer law.
For large, bulky, fragile, or oversized items shipped via specialist or oversized courier services, the delivery charge applied at checkout will be treated as the standard delivery service for that item category.
Where multiple delivery options are offered, only the cost of the least expensive standard delivery method will be refundable. Any express, premium, or upgraded delivery services are non-refundable.
Return shipping costs remain the responsibility of the customer unless the item is faulty, damaged, or supplied in error.
Returns Process
All returns must be authorised in advance and clearly marked as a return. Items must be returned complete, with all components and accessories, and packaged appropriately to prevent transit damage. We reserve the right to make deductions where inadequate return packaging results in damage or loss of resale value.
